"African Americans don't play soccer." - William Cotton
The following DC United and the Columbus crew MLS players would like to remind William Cotton that they are African Americans: Freddy Adu, Clyde Simms, David Stokes, Jamil Walker, John Wilson, Edson Buddle, Knox Cameron, Robin Fraser, Marcus Storey, and Jamal Sutton. BTW, this does not include the international or other minority players that play on these teams.
I've not checked the rosters of the other ten MLS teams, but odds are they have players of African American decent as well - not to mention the hundreds of colleges around the U.S. that have African American players as well.
If Mr. Cotton would like to make sure that no African American kids from his district learns this great sport, with great potential for college scholarship, then please keep up the vapid statements. Otherwise, rather than lambaste soccer programs, please encourage participation.

What country was Pele from?

I'm almost 100% sure he was from Brazil.

I think so, too, but in Chattanooga he'd be considered African-American.
...Kinda like all soft drinks are called "Coke."

I don't know if my Kenyan friend would like to be called an African-American, he might take American-African... I'll ask. He also plays soccer and rugby - I wonder if Cotton would mind?

I found that article frusterating because it was hard to follow. What was the soccer program? What did it entail? How much was it asking for?
And the truth remains that a soccer program of sorts might benefit hispanics most in chattanooga, so the same could be said of Cotton that he is neglecting the hispanic community of chattanooga. Also last time i checked soccer was a sport all races could play, i dont' think its race specific.

Holton, I don't intend this to be a accusatory, but I'm a stickler for the use of the term race... So unless we're talking about something other than humans (i.e. the now banned chattanooga chicken) - I'll assume you mean folks of "all ethnicities" could play. :)

Is it true about the chickens? No more Kellogg chickens? I want a chicken. But the parental unit vetoed the request. really I wanted a fuzzy chick that would eventually grow into a chicken. I even have pictures from the farm store.
